ABU DHABI INDIAN SCHOOL, ABU DHABI
MATHEMATICS ASSINGNMENT ( FA3 ), GRADE : IX , 2014 -15

1.         Draw the graphs of the linear equations  x – 2y = 0  and  3x + 4y = 20 on the same plane.
Also write the coordinates of the point of intersection of the two lines.
2.         If the point  ( 2,5 ) lies on the graph of the equation 4y = kx – 8, find the value of  k.
3.         ABC is a triangle right angled at C. A line through the mid point M of hypotenuse AB and parallel to BC intersects AC at D. Show that :
            i)          D is the mid point of AC        ii)   MD perpendicular  AC      iii)   CM = MA = 1/2 AB.
4.         Prove that a median of a triangle divides it into two triangles of equal areas.
5.         Prove that parallelograms on the same base and between the same parallels are equal in area.
6.         The dimensions of a cuboid are 20 cm, 10 cm and  8 cm . find the total surface area and the lateral surface area of the cuboid.
7.         Two cubes each of edge  4 cm are joined end to end. Find the surface area of the resulting cuboid.
8.         A circus tent is cylindrical to a height of 3m and conical above it. If its diameter is 105m and slant height of the cone is 53m, calculate the total area of the canvas required to make the tent.
